Umesh Prasad, PhD

Geomechanics Lead

Dr. Umesh Prasad is a Geomechanics Lead at TEVERRA. He is an accomplished Geoscientist and has been a global advisor with career and academic expertise in geology, mineralogy, rock mechanics, geomechanics, rock physics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and drilling engineering, specializing in applied research for commercial tool and services development tailored for drilling, formation evaluation, completion, stimulations, and hydraulic fracture design. He led teams and collaborated with all branches of petroleum engineering to manage and execute research and projects, producing insights and delivering solutions that drive growth, maximize performance, improve processes, inculcate innovation, and achieve strategic objectives in the energy, oil, and gas industry, CCUS and Geothermal. He has 22 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, 5 years in academic research, 4 years in coal reserves estimation, and 2 years in iron ore mine planning. He has 54 publications in conference proceedings, 4 published patents, 3 defensive publications, and 3 journal articles in his portfolio. Dr. Prasad has successfully organized and Chaired symposiums. He is a recipient of the 2020 Houston Geological Society Distinguished Service Award. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from IIT (ISM), India, M.Eng and Ph.D. in mining, and metallurgical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
