David Cousins
Subsurface Characterization
David Cousins is a geoscientist with expertise in sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, basin analysis, and subsurface characterization. He specializes in the integration of remote sensing and GIS-based workflows to support exploration in regional-scale, data-limited settings, with applied experience spanning geothermal energy, hydrocarbons, carbon capture and storage, and natural hydrogen exploration. Across his career, he has delivered technical work to major energy and resource companies, including reservoir risk analyses, geothermal rock classification frameworks, and geological chance-of-success models for frontier exploration plays. He has led international field and remote sensing projects across multiple continents, consistently delivering on-time, within-budget results to industry partners. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at international conferences across multiple disciplines and energy sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Geology specializing in aeolian sedimentology and depositional systems, an M.Sc. summa cum laude in the chemostratigraphy of iron ore deposits, and a B.Sc. with Honours in Geology and Environmental Management.
