Graham Banks

Dr. Graham Banks is a principal exploration geoscientist with 19 years of industry experience in geothermal, oil and gas, hydrogen and critical minerals exploration and resource appraisal. He has conducted or led more than 50 commercial and multi-national research projects worldwide, spanning country-scale geothermal prospectivity to petroleum well drilling. He integrates and reality-checks: geology, geophysics, resource estimation, probability of success, opportunity analysis, uncertainty, risk, value of information, and industry best practise standards. He has been a geologist in WSP, The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, Maersk Oil, Ikon Science, WesternZagros Resources and Fugro. He has also provided value to clients including The World Bank, The European Union, financial analysts, major petroleum and mining companies, and junior exploration companies. Graham conducted postdoctoral research on critical minerals exploration methods and project risk. His PhD was on volcanoes and tectonics. His First Class Honours degree in Geology was at University of St. Andrews. Graham believes society should have access to Science. He leads the Vancouver Geoscience Forum. He has delivered more than 60 conference seminars, webinars, training courses, geology field trips and peer-reviewed publications. And he volunteers Science and risk analysis classes in schools and universities.
