Rico, CO – As Phase I of the Rico Geothermal District Heating Project continues to progress, Teverra and the Rico Geothermal Coalition reaffirm their commitment to community engagement with their second Community Outreach Event, held on Sunday, July 20th at The Enterprise Bar & Grill in downtown Rico.
Generously supported by the Colorado Energy Office, this initiative aims to bring sustainable, local geothermal energy to Rico through an inclusive and community-first development process.
During the event, Teverra’s Emilie Gentry and Coalition representative Teal Stetson-Lee presented the latest updates on the project, addressed community questions, and shared insights into what geothermal energy could mean for Rico’s future—lower heating costs, enhanced energy resilience, and reduced carbon emissions.
“We’re not just developing a clean energy system, we’re building something with the community, for the community,” said Emilie Gentry. “Geothermal has the potential to power Rico’s future in a way that honors the town’s values, landscape, and independence.”
The event was well-attended by local residents, business owners, and stakeholders, many of whom shared ideas and voiced support for exploring geothermal energy as a long-term heating solution.
Teverra and the Rico Geothermal Coalition thank the community for their engagement and the Colorado Energy Office for their continued support. Additional outreach events and technical updates are planned in the coming months as the project moves toward feasibility confirmation.
